Concept Art and Design Portfolio
Making the first move
As I became interested in digital illustration, I came up with a concept for a game featuring ‘Rover’, the character below. This ‘cutscene’ illustration introduces Rover to the player. The environment and mood are designed to reflect back on his character as well.

Varying the style
In exploring the concept for the game, I delved deeper into the character of Rover, and worked in different styles to convey a variety of moods and expressions. Below is another take, fleshing out Rover’s unusual role as an aging protagonist

Coming up with the idea:
In the brainstorming phase, I rely on fast drawings and writing sessions to flesh out the concept. This is a very quick sketch that showcases Rover’s embattled, gritty nature, and shows his age
Thinking about the player experience
As someone for whom playing games is a formative experience, I attempted an isometric “In Game” view that I would be excited to play, and that will flesh out the action and ‘feel’ of the game

Looking for work
I am excited to apply myself in a position where I can make a contribution. Below is a project I worked on for a job application

Dramatic Narrative
The expression and pose of the characters, the lighting (inspired by Caravaggio paintings) and the design of the setting and the lighting all contribute to the creation of the drama of the narrative. Without needing textual of audible enhancement, the scene is meant to introduce the Character of Elena, and communicate the surprise and discomfort of the looming figure in the back

Going forward
As new ideas come up I use them to constantly improve and learn new skills. Below is an illustration I’ve made to accompany a short text by a group of creatives
